Alternate Title

Modèles de participation des citoyens et noyau communautaire au Canada

Notes

Using the 1997 National Survey of Giving, Volunteering, and Participating, this analysis reveals that (i) a small proportion of the individuals who engage in volunteering, giving and community activities are responsible for the lion's share of total effort, and (ii) when overlap in participation in these three domains is examined, there is clear evidence of a small "civic core" in Canada that accounts for about three-quarters of all formal helping and contributing. The study compares the social and demographic characteristics of those in the civic core with those of the population of Canadians who are relatively inactive in affairs"Presented at the 29th ARNOVA Annual Conference, New Orleans, Louisiana, November 16-18, 2000" -- t.p.http://www.statcan.ca/english/research/75F0048MIE/75F0048MIE2002003.pdf
